How bumpy the ride has been
Very high swing. Big swings in both directions. Built for money you can leave alone for many years.
What it is, in plain words
Big public sector banks make up nearly a third of the fund, so its fortunes are closely tied to how these government businesses and banks perform. The shares it holds look reasonably priced compared to their earnings, and it also pays out a decent dividend along the way. That said, this is a high-risk fund, meant only for people who can handle sharp ups and downs. A real weakness here is that it leans heavily on one theme, PSU banks and companies. So if government policy or that sector falls out of favor, the fund could struggle more than a broadly spread-out fund would. Recent numbers also show it hasn't been keeping pace with its own benchmark index lately.
Holds The Fund consists of 98.37% equities and 1.63% triparty repo.
Measured against It tracks the performance of public sector undertakings (government-owned companies) listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
